3 Tips For Scoring Discounts On Philadelphia Monthly Parking

Before you get started, here’s some background information if you’re looking to save money.

1. Be flexible about location to save over $150 –  The higher demand for a parking spot, the more expensive it will be. If you’re willing to park a little further away from your desired location, you can save hundreds of dollars.

For best results, consider lots or garages within a 6 block radius of your destination.

2. Consider what time of day you need parking - Something you may not realize is that there are actually a lot of monthly parking options. Be careful to not overpay for a monthly parking option you don’t really need.

If you commute downtown during the business week, for instance, you could pay a different monthly parking rate than someone who only needs parking on the weekends.

Check out this blog post for a full rundown of your monthly parking options.

3. Book a spot online - To make sure you’re getting the best Philadelphia monthly parking deal, we recommend comparing your options with an online parking service. Many of the spots listed online are already discounted. Their location and accessibility are also described online.

If you’re particular about certain amenities for your monthly parking spot, it’s worth doing a bit of extra research to make sure you get it right.

To make it easier for you, we address two important amenities below: indoor parking garages and valet.

8 Indoor Parking Garages in Philadelphia with Monthly Parking Rates

Philadelphia has long, cold winters, so indoor parking is a must. Most of the garages in Philadelphia are underground, which helps protect your car from weathering. These indoor garages might cost more, but if your budget allows it, the experience of getting into an unfrozen car is worth it.

We did some research and here are 8 garages in Philadelphia that offer valet service, and have monthly parking:

2. What are the average monthly parking rates in Philadelphia?

Depending on where you’re parking your car, the rates will vary. Near downtown, you can get monthly parking from $210-$375. If you want a heated garage rather than an outdoor lot, you will have to pay extra.

3. Is there long-term parking at Philadelphia International Airport?

Yes! Going on a long business trip or vacation and need somewhere safe to store your car? Some offsite airport parking companies offer long term parking for that very reason.

However, if you look closer into this price, you’ll notice that the lot is 3.4 miles from downtown. Perfect for someone commuting to work in west Philadelphia, but not ideal for someone looking for monthly parking downtown.

BONUS: Motorcycle and RV Monthly Parking

  • MOTORCYCLE PARKING:
    • Philadelphia ran a motorcycle parking pilot program from July to October 2014. The program allowed motorcycles and scooters to park on residential sidewalks provided they had appropriate permits and kept out of the way of foot traffic.
    • The Parking Authority installed motorcycle parking in Central City and University City. Additional parking will be added as needed based on opinions provided to the Authority.
    • Parking on 9th and Filbert Streets has a designated, secure area for motorcycles and scooters. Further parking in other locations will be added.
    • If you want to store your motorcycle during the winter, a Craigslist search can help narrow down some options. If you elect to store your ride, make sure it’s in a heated unit with 24/7 access.
  • RV / TRAILER PARKING:
    • Parking is extremely limited downtown, but if you can park your vehicle in the suburbs, you have plenty of options. Philadelphia is a very walkable city, so bringing the RV into the heart of downtown isn’t necessary.
    • If you need to store your RV long term, you can also look at self-storage options.
